One of the most common questions we get asked is “How can I get my video to rank well on Google?” Well, there are a number of factors that come into play and determine the rank of video content. These are tied in with your Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) skills. Here at Oh Video, we work across the North West region to provide high quality video production and video marketing solutions. As a result, we know alot about SEO for videos. This is our guide to help you boost video rankings with SEO.

Good Video SEO starts with good website SEO

If you are linking your video on the landing page of your website, then of course, your website optimisation also needs to be top notch. Your video will automatically appear higher on the Google search results page, if your website is already fully optimised. If not, then its going to be much harder for the video to perform well.

Stick to one video on a page

While you might think its a good idea to put up a range of video on the same website page, for rankings, it really isn’t. If your main aim is to boost video rankings, you need to stick to the one video per page rule. That way your video is much more likely to appear in the Search

Engine Results page.

If you have a lot of video content, and your secondary aim is to make it easy for viewers to check out your video content, you can have your cake and eat it. By this we mean that you can put the videos you want to rank on an individual page and optimise it, but also put it on the gallery page too. However, you will need to reupload the video, after changing the file name, otherwise you can get penalized for duplicate content.

Use your title tags

Placing relevant keywords in your title tags, is one incredibly important SEO factor. So, it stands to reason that if you link your title tags to your video, your video will be picked up by Google. You can also name your video with the title attribute, the same as the title tags on your page.
